Home to one of our main corporate offices in Brisbane, Australia, and a major office hub in Indonesia, much of our work in the region is tied closely to our partnership with the Australian government. This year saw continued response efforts to the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters across the region, from humanitarian logistics to vaccine distribution, as well as the launch of Palladium Infrastructure.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

Client Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
Purpose In an effort to improve Fiji’s disaster preparedness, Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) tasked Palladium with deploying two logisticians to Fiji for a period of an initial six months to support capacity building in Fiji’s disaster response sector; conduct a sector review into logistics capability and humanitarian supply chains; develop a workplan for the Fiji National Disaster Management Office to improve and rectify issues identified in sector review.

PRIVATE SECTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Client New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade
Purpose The Private Sector Development Programme works at both the national and the business level to support inclusive economic growth in Samoa. Palladium runs a policy support facility for the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labor to shape and inform national policies that improve the business enabling environment. We also provide direct support to promising businesses in Samoa to start and grow their own businesses through the Small Business Hub.

SOUTH EAST ASIA VACCINE

Purpose Australia pledged to provide 60 million COVID-19 vaccine doses to South-East Asia and the Pacific. As part of fulfilling that commitment, Please change to “Palladium developed cold chain storage facilities and managed the delivery of Australian-manufactured vaccines from Australia to the region.

WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS FINANCE INITIATIVE

Location Vietnam
Client Asian Development Bank
Purpose Palladium strengthened the policy environment for women’s entrepreneurship by developing gender responsive products and services in collaboration with financial and non-financial institutions. This increased lending to women-owned small-and-medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam and grew the capacity of women entrepreneurs to make good use of their finances. The project included conducting several gender gap awareness assessments of banks, government entities, and civil society organisations, and providing recommendations.

IMPACT PRIVATE SECTOR PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM

Purpose Palladium created the Australia Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (DFAT) internal resource hub for advice and support on private sector engagement issues. These include the Business Partnerships Platform and DFAT’s flagship challenge fund for innovative partnerships between the government and the private sector, which plays a key role in Australia and the Indo-Pacific region’s COVID-19 economic recovery.

JABIRU MASTERPLAN

Purpose In 2021, Australia signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding to transition Jabiru from a mining town to a tourism and regional hub. Palladium developed a framework to oversee the delivery of all development involved in the repurposing of Jabiru Town, including a design guideline aligned with the Jabiru masterplan.
